Reiki + Acupuncture
WHERE DID THEY ORIGINATE?
Both Acupuncture and Reiki originated in Asia, as a healing art, and each practice can be traced back thousands of years. But healing with Source energy, or the laying of hands, is as old as human life itself. In current practice, both systems use the ancient healing philosophies that are implemented into treatments which focus primarily on wellness and prevention, and secondarily on diseases that have already manifested in the physical body.
WHAT ARE THEY?
Acupuncture has been practiced for over 5,000 years as the foundation of healthcare in China, which later spread to Japan and Europe. This medicine uses the principles of Yin (a more feminine energy) and Yang (a more masculine energy), which are symbolized by light and dark swirls in a circle. This symbol represents the complementary forces that are needed to bring balance to an individual for their health to be maintained or restored. These opposing and codependent energies are at the very core of all aspects of life. When these energies are out of harmony, one dominates creating an imbalance within a person, causing symptoms/diseases.
Reiki originated in Tibet and is commonly associated with the laying of hands above an individual. Specific sounds, symbols, and crystals may also be used as an addition to the treatment. This ancient practice has been implemented throughout time in healings and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui after he had what he describes as a “transformative spiritual experience”. “REI” means “spirit” or “divine” and “KI” is “life force energy” or “consciousness”. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It maintains our energetic health which manifests in our physical body. When this energy is blocked, it causes the body to physically show as a symptom or disease.
WHAT ARE THEIR SIMILARITIES & DIFFERENCES?
Acupuncture and Reiki share many similar attributes. Both align to the belief that energy flows along meridians (channels or pathways) in the body. When there is a blockage in the energetic flow, physical ailments are presented in the body. Both of these practices work on breaking up those blockages, the only difference is with how it is done. One is with the use of needles and the other is with hands.
Even though these practices have multiple similarities, one of the main differences resides within the patient themselves and how they engage in the treatment. Acupuncture, is more of a passive recipient type of treatment, where one lays quietly on the treatment table as sterile needles are inserted into the energetic points of the body. Reiki on the other hand can be done in person or from afar. During this treatment, the patient actively participates in the healing process by drawing down the universal Source energy that is needed for healing while the practitioner treats the whole body.
WHY TREAT TOGETHER?
Acupuncture and Reiki are two ancient practices that energetically work wonderfully together to create energetic bliss within the individual that is getting treated. Not only are they getting their energetic blocks removed, but they are healing themselves from the inside out with the help from their practitioner. They both treat the physical, mental, and spiritual conditions that may be causing issues in everyday life. This is able to be done because both medicines address and treat the root causes, not just the temporary symptoms. Reiki in other words supports Acupuncture, and Acupuncture enhances Reiki.
WHAT OCCURS DURING A HYBRID ACUPUNCTURE/REIKI TREATMENT?
As soon as the patient is checked in, they will be taken to one of our extremely relaxing private rooms surrounded with soothing music where the initial evaluation will take place. Once this has occurred, the patient will be asked to lay face up for the first half of the healing session. During this portion of the treatment, acupuncture will initially be given followed by reiki. Then, needles will be removed and the patient will be asked to switch to a face down position on the table for the second half of the healing session. Just like the first portion, acupuncture is given first and reiki follows. Following the closure of this combined treatment, a calming facial/head massage will complete this all-embracing energetic session.
HOW LONG & WHAT IS THE COST OF THIS HYBRID ACUPUNCTURE/REIKI TREATMENT?
These sessions last for 90 minutes and the practitioner is always present. The cost for this hybrid treatment will be $140 effective Sept 1, 2017. Until then, it will be $125.
