Kate Dietz is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, a licensed acupuncturist, board certified herbalist, and a nationally certified massage therapist. Kate, originally from the east coast, entered the healing arts after completing her undergraduate degree in Las Vegas. Her bachelors in Journalism taught her more about what she didn’t want to do, and put her on her own path to health and healing. Kate came to Minnesota in 2007 and attended CenterPoint Massage Therapy and Shiatsu School, where she learned various therapeutic techniques including Swedish, sports and deep tissue, trigger point, myofascial release, assisted stretching and prenatal massage. She started practicing in 2010, which prompted her to continue her passion for holistic healing.
“I absolutely love bodywork and connecting with my clients through the healing power of massage. But I wanted to go deeper. I wanted the ability to heal the body, mind and spirit as one whole entity, and that’s why I fell in love with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Massage has the ability to treat the branch of the problem which includes tight, sore, misused or overused muscles. It calms the mind. But it doesn’t treat the root of the problem. Traditional Chinese Medicine does. It can address why your muscles are sore and your mind is tired. TCM decreases stress, restores strength and balance, and reconnects the body and mind.”
While Kate completed her Master of Oriental Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University, she did an extended study in Tianjin, China where she observed and studied stroke rehabilitation and musculoskeletal treatments in Tianjin’s University outpatient and inpatient clinics. She completed her clinical rotations in the University of Minnesota’s Fairview Riverside Hospital where she treated post- operative, and post and anti-partum pregnancies. She also interned at the Edith Davis Teaching Clinic in Bloomington, Cerenity senior living community in Saint Paul, and Pathways Care Center where she treated those suffering from chronic and terminal illnesses. She extended her hands on training with Chinese medical massage and acupressure. Kate also had the opportunity to become certified in Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture–featured in the June 2010 Oprah magazine.
Kate specializes in combining massage with Chinese Medicine to effectively treat chronic and acute pain, fertility concerns, asthma and allergies, sleep, digestive, and menstrual disorders. She passionately treats emotional illnesses such as anxiety and depression.
